The Power of Art Therapy
The Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Institute is known for our comprehensive psychosocial programs that enhance patient care. One of those programs is the Art Therapy Program, which offers a dedicated art therapist who provides art sessions to patients with cancer and blood disorders while in the hospital. Art is a powerful tool that can identify and manage stressors, empower young patients in the fight against cancer or serious blood disorders, and offer a complimentary treatment method to relieve symptoms and gain insights into thoughts, feelings and behaviors about their disease/illness.
Virtual Art Showcase
Each year, we collect the incredible artwork that our patients create and display it in an art gallery for families, friends, care teams and the community to view. Over the last year, galleries and art centers, museums, and art schools closed their doors to curb the spread of COVID-19. So, like others around the world, we are moving from a physical gallery to a digital gallery. We are proud to present the beautiful art created by our patients. You can enjoy each drawing and painting by swiping through the art collection below.
