Our clinical social workers play an important role in our care team. They provide resources to children and families experiencing the difficulties associated with their illness, hospitalization and outpatient care. Social workers provide:

  • Assistance with accessing hospital and community resources
  • Case coordination, consultation and discharge planning
  • Child advocacy and protection
  • Counseling and/or referral for financial problems related to the medical situation
  • Counseling to individuals and families related to the patient's diagnosis and medical condition
  • Crisis intervention
  • Grief/loss counseling
  • Guidance and access to outpatient programs, counseling, support groups, special camps and community resources.
  • Support and education to patients and families around adjustment to their diagnosis, hospitalization and outpatient care
