We are a pediatric teaching hospital, prides itself on supporting the growth and education of the physicians of tomorrow. In partnership with University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, the Center for Health Education (CHE) is on the campus of Miller Children’s & Women's and Long Beach Medical Center.
Through CHE, we offer physicians the chance to participate in professional development and certification programs, such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support and weekly Grand Rounds. It also has a strong pediatric residency education program where residents have access to noon conferences every day.
We also offer Neonatal/Perinatology Medical Fellowship and the Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowship programs that expose trainees to a broad medical specialty clinical experience, as well as the opportunity to work on a relevant research project with an attending physician.
The Center for Health Education opened in 1974 as a joint venture between Long Beach Medical Center and the University of California, Irvine. The purpose of the CHE is to provide continuing education for practitioners of the biomedical sciences and related fields, and public forums, lectures and instruction on health matters of interest to the general public. The CHE is a non-profit corporation under the parent company of MemorialCare.
We understand that health care is a scientifically rigorous discipline, which requires healthcare teams to stay on top of medical advances, scientific breakthroughs and medical trends to ensure the best possible care is provided to patients. Our CME Committee provides ongoing education for faculty and healthcare teams and events are open to other community physicians and members that are interested in our innovative approach to care.
