This Olympic-style relay race will be filled with uplifting moments as patients carry a torch – a symbol of hope for a cure – while they walk, run, wheel or are carried through a one-eighth-mile celebratory lap.

About the Institute

In 1976, 16-year-old Jonathan Jaques inspired the creation of the Institute by giving his life savings to his parents and asking them to help future children with cancer. Although Jonathan lost his battle with cancer, his legacy lives on through the Institute that was dedicated in his name in 1983. Forty years later, the Jaques family are still active supporters and have watched the Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Institute grow into a leader in the area’s of research and treatment of brain tumors, leukemias, sickle cell, and hemophilia. 

Every dollar raised makes a difference in the lives of the patients we treat at the Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Institute. Champions Run for Life “Torch Run” is one of our most significant fundraising events and supports a range of patient programs and services, including:
