About Me
Dr. Alvarez is a Health Sciences Assistant Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Previously, Dr. Alvarez was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at USC Keck School of Medicine and practiced at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where she was the medical director of type 2 diabetes clinic. Dr. Alvarez received her medical degree from the Charles R Drew/UCLA Medical Education Program. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at Children's Hospital and Research Center Oakland (now UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland) and her fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. Her clinical practice includes general pediatric endocrinology and diabetes. Her special interests include diabetes, in particular, type 2 in youth, insulin resistance/ prediabetes, and diabetes care technology.
