Over the past three years, Happy Hats by Helping Hands has sewen 10,000 surgical hats for patients undergoing surgery at MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach.

Happy Hats by Helping Hands is a group of women who volunteer their time, meeting once a month to socialize and sew the hats. The hats help provide patients with some joy and comfort prior to surgery, which can be a scary experience.

Happy Hats by Helping Hands, along with Rita Goshert, director, Cherese Mari Laulhere Child Life Program, Miller Children’s & Women’s, were featured in the Grunion Gazette to share how the hats make an impact on hospitalized children. Read the full article.
