Behavioral & Neurodevelopment Program

The Behavioral & Neurodevelopment Program provides complete care across the entire pediatric development spectrum. The behavioral and neurodevelopment care team evaluates and coordinates care for children with developmental delay, cerebral palsy, autism, intellectual disability, attention deficit disorder, and other problems that may interfere with the typical mental, emotional, social and academic development of a child.

A developmental pediatrician, clinical psychologist, nurse practitioner, nurse specialist, physical therapist, occupational therapist and licensed clinical social worker make up the Behavioral & Neurodevelopment Program care team.

Clinical Evaluation

Our behavioral and neurodevelopment care team ensures a thorough pre-evaluation — prior to the first consult — through clinical assessments and behavioral and developmental progress is tracked every step of the way in a child’s developmental journey.

• Parents and those involved in the child’s life (school teachers, daycare staff and caregivers) will be given a pre-evaluation, asking various questions about the child’s activity and behavior, before the initial visit. This helps the care team have a clearer background of the child and allows them to make the most accurate diagnosis.
• The patient is given standardized and various assessment tests throughout their visit and over the course of treatment.
• The behavioral and neurodevelopment care team works closely with children and their families to ensure their maximum growth and developmental goals are achieved.

Treatment To Support Growth

The behavioral and neurodevelopment care team uses special techniques that are play-based to help a behaviorally or developmentally delayed child learn how to sharpen motor skills, focus, create neurological stimulus and even something as simple as to learn how to smile. Using toys, mirrors and other friendly interactive tools helps stimulate a child to work toward reaching their true growth capabilities, without getting too frustrated by a standard treatment process.

Continued Follow-Up Care

Routine appointments are made with the child to encourage continued growth and development and to track progress. The amount of visits a child needs per year depend solely on the child’s diagnosis and condition.
