He performs the full spectrum of robotic thoracic surgery, including robotic lobectomy and segmentectomy, robotic esophagectomy, and robotic paraesophageal and hiatal hernia repair.
Dr. Stanley received his medical degree with distinction from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine before completing his general surgery residency at Emory University School of Medicine, where he also served as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Emory Critical Care Center. He went on to complete a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Emory University School of Medicine, serving as administrative chief fellow during his final year. He is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery.
During his training, Dr. Stanley was selected for the AATS/Intuitive Surgical Thoracic Surgical Robotics Fellowship and received the Robert A. Guyton, M.D. Outstanding Chief Resident Award and Emory’s House Staff Organization Professionalism Excellence (HOPE) Award.
He has published and presented nationally and internationally on robotic thoracic and foregut surgery and machine learning in critical care. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS), and the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
Outside of medicine, Dr. Stanley enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle, treasures time with his family, and, as a lifelong Kentucky Wildcat, remains connected to his Bluegrass roots.
