About Me
Leonel F. Guajardo, MD, is a board-certified neonatologist. At MemorialCare Miller Children's & Women's Hospital, he has served as the Chair of the Pediatric Medicine Committee (2015 - 2019), Chair of the Quality Assurance Committee, and Vice Chair of the Pediatric Medicine Committee (2011 - 2015). He also has been coordinating the NICU Mortality and Morbidity meetings and participated in other peer-review committees and other various meetings.
After earning his medical degree at the University of Baja California, Mexicali School of Medicine, he stayed to complete his first residency in general surgery. Dr. Guajardo completed a second residency in pediatrics at the Wayne Oakland Child Adolescent Medicine Program in Detroit, MI, and performed a neonatology fellowship at the University of California (UC), Irvine School of Medicine. Dr. Guajardo is board-certified in both neonatology and pediatrics.
His research on neonatal high-frequency jet ventilation (HFJV) survival has been published and he’s been recruited to speak on HFJV.
He serves as a Clinical Instructor, Neonatology Department at UC Irvine Medical School, a fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics, and is a member of the American Medical Association, California Medical Association, and California Perinatal Association.
In his free time, Dr. Guajardo enjoys exploring Southern California with his wife and two wonderful children.
