About Me
As an experienced obstetrician/gynecologist, Daphne Hayes, MD has an uncommon pathway that led her to her chosen specialty. “My father worked in pharmaceutical sales in OB/GYN when I was a little kid and kept boxes and boxes of birth control samples in our garage,” she recalls. “As a nosy kid, I was fascinated with the cool packets they came in, and I thought it must be even cooler to handle them. What started off as a silly childhood interest morphed into a legitimate love as I spent the next several summers volunteering with several womens' health organizations. By the time I got to college, I was sure. Women’s health was for me!”
Dr. Hayes channeled that interest into a thriving OB/GYN practice.
“I love building rapport and relationships with patients. That forms the foundation of interactions that are sometimes happy, sometimes sad, and sometimes life-altering.”
It is important to Dr. Hayes that patients know that, “I am a physician who likes to collaborate with patients to help them make decisions for their health. I will always present all the options to patients, and within the realm of safety, help them make the best decision.”
Dr. Hayes was born at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, so she feels that in a way, she has come full circle. She speaks fluent Spanish. She is an avid sports fan and music lover in her hours off. “I was a tennis player in younger years, but I love several sports now. Baseball, football, soccer and tennis are my favorites. My husband and I love concerts, specifically jazz, R&B, and soul concerts. I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my husband and 3-year-old son, whether it be long drives to explore, or family time at the beach.”
