About Me
Anapuma Shetty, M.D. is double board certified in Neonatology and Pediatrics. She received her Medical Degree from Jawarhlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), India, a premier medical institution in India. After migrating to the United States, Dr. Shetty completed her residency in pediatrics at Hasbro Children’s at Brown University, Rhode Island and Neonatalogy fellowship at Yale New Haven Hospital. Prior to joining MemorialCare Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital, she practiced Neonatology for 14 years at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara and served as Assistant Chief of the inpatient Pediatric department for five years. While at Kaiser, Dr. Shetty started the NICU Family Advisory Council, NICU Neurodevelopmental program and NICU psychology program.
“My deep interest lies in Neonatal Cardiology and congenital heart disease,” says Dr. Shetty. In 2023, she completed a two-year senior fellowship in Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care (CICU) at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, after which she worked as a hospitalist in the CICU. “One of my interests is in developing projects and interdisciplinary teams to improve the care we provide to our patients,” she notes. To accomplish that goal, she completed a Strategic Healthcare Leadership certification from Cornell University in 2023.
“My passion is in the care of infants with congenital heart disease, in cardiac physiology and its interactions and impact on a critically ill infant,” she says. “I love the utility of targeted neonatal echocardiography for real time hemodynamic assessment of neonates and bedside ultrasounds for interrogating various organ systems to help take care of a sick infant.”
Along with her husband, Dr. Shetty has stayed in many regions of the US and loves traveling and exploring places and cuisines. “We are both avid badminton players and love hiking and the outdoors,” she notes. “My two daughters are currently in college in the east coast and also play badminton for their colleges.”
