Alireza Abidi, MD

Dr. Alireza Abidi is a board- certified, fellowship-trained gynecologic oncologist with Gynecologic Oncology Associates in the Long Beach & Laguna Hills offices. 

His clinical interests include cervical and endometrial cancers, including epidemiology, surgical management and minimally invasive treatment of these cancers. He is one of the few surgeons who perform transabdominal cerclage (TAC) for pregnancy loss, both robotically and through open surgery, and vNOTES (vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery). 

He received his medical degree from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences followed by residency in obstetrics & gynecology from Bridgeport Hospital, Yale New Haven University. He then completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at University of California Davis Health. Dr. Abidi is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. 

With a patient-centered approach, he is dedicated to delivering evidence-based treatments tailored to each individual’s needs while maintaining a compassionate and empathetic attitude. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Abidi serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of California Riverside and as a Visiting Professor at Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. 

Dr. Abidi’s distinguished career includes numerous accolades, presentations, and publications that have contributed significantly to the field of gynecologic oncology. He has been recognized for his research on disparities in cancer treatment and outcomes, and his work has been presented at prestigious conferences and published in well-regarded medical journals. A member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SOG), Dr. Abidi continues to influence the field locally and internationally through his clinical, academic, and research contributions.
