Yair KatzMemorialCare recently named Yair Katz to Chief Executive of Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach and Senior Vice President of Pediatrics of MemorialCare. This new position will align with MemorialCare's strategic plans for growth of pediatric services within MemorialCare.

For the past seven years, Katz has served as the chief financial officer of MemorialCare's Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach and Long Beach Medical Center. While leading all financial operations of the Long Beach hospitals, he demonstrated a deep understanding of the uniqueness of children's hospitals and has been an advocate for and key leader in many of the Miller Children's & Women's growth initiatives. Katz has also engaged with various advocacy groups like California Children's Hospital Association and holds roles on the Board of the Long Beach Health and Human Services and the Board of the California Conference for Equality and Justice.

“As the Chief Financial Officer for Long Beach Hospitals and philanthropic foundation I was privileged to be in a position to truly appreciate the impact and responsibility of our role within our community, as well as balancing the ever-growing challenges within healthcare,” said Katz. “My involvement in the development of the Cherese Mari Laulhere Children’s Village and working alongside our phenomenal physicians, nurses, therapists, child life specialists-the entire team, it became clear to me that leading and growing the pediatric hospital was my passion. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach.”

As the CFO, Katz has been a conduit between the hospital's leadership team and its philanthropic foundation. In this new role he will work closely with the hospital's physician executive leader, Graham Tse, M.D., chief medical officer for Miller Children's & Women's, to advance physician alignment and ensure the continuity of exceptional, quality care.

"Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach is one of MemorialCare's most unique assets. It is one of only eight stand-alone children's hospitals in California and the greatest area of untapped growth potential within our health system," says Barry Arbuckle, president, and chief executive officer, MemorialCare. "To enable the highest possible level of strategic focus, it became evident that we would be well-served to have an additional senior executive whose primary focus is Miller Children's & Women's Hospital, and our team recognized that Yair was an exceptional choice for this role."
