Dr. Katherine White’s vision for a guest lectureship was to bring renowned researchers, academicians and practitioners to MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach to present cutting-edge processes, findings, and treatments to residents and faculty. For over 30 years, the Long Beach healthcare and educational communities have learned from distinguished experts.

Dr. White was a longtime community activist and was the recipient of many honors, including the Humanitarian Award from the Foundation for Children’s Health Care and the Women of Distinction and Hall of Fame Awards from Soroptimist International. Both in life and in death, Dr. White continues to enrich the lives of others. She touched all who were privileged to know her. A generous supporter of Miller Children’s & Women’s Fund for Pediatric Medical Education and The Children’s Clinic, Dr. White helped establish an endowment to support this annual guest lectureship through the Miller Children’s & Women’s Foundation.

This year’s Katherine White Lectureship features keynote speaker Dr. Natalie M. Pageler, a board-certified pediatric intensivist and clinical informaticist. She is the Associate Dean for Maternal and Child Health (Clinical Informatics) at Stanford Medicine and the inaugural Division Chief of Clinical Informatics and Clinical Professor of Critical Care in the Department of Pediatrics. She is also Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO) at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health. Dr. Pageler’s presentation is entitled Harnessing the Power of AI to Advance Care for Children & Families.
